I traveled to the Umatilla National Forest last week to visit two fires, the School Fire and the Burnt Cabin Fire. This picture was taken on the Burnt Cabin Fire (only about 1,900 acres) after a long day of hiking up and down those hills gathering field data.

I see the name of the forest and it brings back wonderful memories to me. I loved Oregon. The Blue Mountains and the Wallawa area are some of the prettiest of the world.
I would love to go back for a visit. Actually, I wouldn't mind living in La Grande. Can't wait until Jess gets to go there in a few months.
