Patio!
Our latest home improvement project: patio! We have a bunch of unused space right outside our house in the backyard that was elevated and surrounded by a retaining wall. It was a weed patch and we've never done anything to it to use it.
We had a vision: lower the ground, level it out, and put down a bunch of patio pavers. We got most of it done yesterday.
To prevent weeds, we put down a good layer of landscape fabric.
I'll just say this: I hate leveling land. It sucked. We bought about 2 tons of sand and used that as the base, but I hated that part of this project. The pavers we got were 16"x16", so when we finally started laying them, it went very quickly.

Jen's brother Ryan came over and helped us for 6 hours with the sand unloading and paver installation. He was a great help.

Even Abby got involved in the project. She was filling in the cracks between pavers with extra sand.
The finished product looks like this. We're pleased with the look.
We're very excited for a completed project. Next: rebuild the deck and turn it around so the stairs come down to the patio.

Way to go! It looks so nice.
That's great! You should hire yourself out and make some extra cash with all these new skills you have! It really looks nice! You should put in french doors from your family room to the patio someday. That would look cool!
Great job! This looks really nice. I especially like Abby's cool look with the sunglasses and all - send her to my house and I'll give her lots of projects to do. :)
Can't wait to come have a picnic.
Mom
That looks really good! I'm glad that even with all the hassle Lowe's gave you that it all turned out. Good thing you have little helpers, or else nothing could get done!
What an amazing transformation. I like the mix of color and style of the bricks.
Jess, this is Seth. I normally don't get on computers much, but you did great work on that patio. The only thing I would have changed was put a huge raider's shield right in the center. It would have helped the look a little bit. Maybe one of these days you'll convert. Great work Mr. Handyman.
Blasphemy! No Raider Nation around here, buddy.
A nice white horseshoe would have been nice, though...
I'm impressed. Looks great!
