What's that? A date you say?

Utah Valley State College (UVSC) recently made the transition to Utah Valley University (UVU). I never went to school there, but I had several friends attend there and two brothers who currently attend there. As part of this transition, they threw a party! One of the things they did was host a concert in the baseball stadium. The musical acts were Josh Gracin, Collin Raye, and Joe Nichols. Jen and I both like Collin Raye quite a bit (that guy has 23 #1 country hits during his career!), so we were excited to see him live. Even better, though, was the fact that we knew the bass player for Collin.

When Jen and her family first moved to Utah from Arizona, they lived in S. Jordan and this guy named Kevin Guest was in their church ward (possibly even in their bishopric). His full time job is with USANA, but he spends quite a bit of time touring with musicians as their bass player. He's played with Diamond Rio, Blackhawk, and now Collin Raye. This was the first time we'd heard that he'd be playing with a group in Utah so we decided we had to go see not only Collin Raye, but Kevin Guest play alongside him.

Once things got started, it was a good concert. Josh Gracin was okay (he looks pretty frumpy if you ask me -- I stood next to him after the whole thing and said a few things to him). Collin Raye was excellent (we stood about 5 rows from the stage during his performance). Then we left. We didn't stick around for Joe Nichols. I had no need to hear "Brokenheartsville."

Fun times.

Two young fans of Josh Gracin. Bet the girl on the left wishes she'd brushed her hair now...
