Abby is a Kindergartener!

Today was the day!  Abby finally got to go to kindergarten!  She has been going back and forth between being excited and nervous.  This morning she woke up and said "Mom, I really am excited about school today!"  By 10 am she was begging me to let her stay home.  We got to the school a little early and as soon as I told her she could play on the playground all her worries disappeared.  The first thing she said to me after school was " I guess it actually was pretty fun" and she is excited to go back tomorrow.

I must admit I've been a little emotional about it this past week.  I was just fine today.  I almost got a little teary when someone asked me how I was doing after the kids went into the class (thanks a lot, Karen!), but I totally held it together.

She's going to love school, but I think I'd be more excited for her if it was just a few days a week...seriously, I have to get her ready for school EVERYDAY?  This is definitely going to be an adjustment for me, but at least it's not the morning class!

Abby, what a big girl you are! Who is going to help your mom with your little sisters? I hope you love Kindergarten.

I am sure she is going to love school. And just be glad you don't have to have her ready first thing in the morning. :)

It IS an emotional thing having your child start school--I still get emotional each year Laura starts a new grade...it's an indication to me that my time is getting short. Abby is very mature! I already thought she was in Kindergarten. I hope she continues to have fun. That new playground is looking pretty cool!

She looks so cute! I can't imagine sending my kid to school, but I am already really excited about buying her school clothes. I do have two years to go, and by then you guys will be old pros at school.

I'm so glad that Abby gets to go to school now. She seems very ready. It was great to see her at the hospital before her second day. She looked so cute and seemed excited to go.
Remember to tell you Mom all about your day. She will want to hear all about it.
Good luck, sweetie!

Welcome to hectic school life Jen and Jess! I'm so glad you've joined our ranks of playground moms and drop off/pick up zones! You'll get used to it. Saturdays start looking so much more valuable! Abby is awesome and she'll have kids lining up to be her friend. She's so smart and cute her teacher will love her to death! Congrats to Abby, and you Jen!
