I don't think any of us like working for, supporting, patronizing, etc., "The Man." I don't either. Well...
A few weeks ago a door-to-door salesman stopped by and inquired about our home phone and internet and TV services. Here's what we were doing: home internet (1.5 Mbps) was provided by Utah Broadband for $35/mo.; home phone was provided by Qwest (basic line with only one feature: caller ID) for about $33/mo. after all taxes and fees; TV services were provided by our favorite bunny (ears, that is) for FREE.
Well, the dude at my door offered a deal. For the next twelve months, we got our home internet (up to 6 Mbps) and home phone service upgraded for the grand total of ... $35/mo. combined! It's sweet! You may say, what about after your year deal is up? Well, we'll have to reconsider. Our most likely move will be to call Comcast and threaten to leave if they don't extend some sort of deal.
Back to "The Man." I've always viewed Comcast as "The Man" in regards to telecommunications. I've shunned them as long as possible. We officially gave in. What's even worse is we signed up for cable tonight. I know...cable! What are we thinking? Well, they're offering cable for $29/mo. plus another $7/mo. for HD channels so we can take advantage of the sweet TV we bought a few years ago. This deal is good for 6 months. We decided to get cable for one reason: COLLEGE FOOTBALL!! Comcast provides The Mtn. in their basic cable package. Life is good.
Sorry Dad, I know you wanted me to get DISH. Maybe next time!

nice.... We just signed up with "Cox" (think its a VA company) but we got a package deal for High Speed Internet and HD cable for around 85 dollars. Not bad... I remember when these services were so expensive!
Sweet. Good luck with Comcast. Their equivilant is Time Warner out here, and we HATED them. So I hope you get better customer service than we did. And we didn't like Dish Network either. Their receivers never worked. We finally switched to Direct TV and have never had a problem. They will let us get the MTN for just the football season, so that's great because then we can drop that $12/month cost when football is over.
As soon as we moved back to the states, we signed up for this deal with at&t and directv. It was supposed to be 35 for internet and 35 for cable. Well, I don't think there has been one single month where they haven't tried to charge us more than promised. We have had to call and fight with both of them every single month. I'm getting very excited to move back to Germany where cable isn't even an option and we'll only have one option for phone/internet. Life is too complicated here.

Sometimes you just have to do about anything for college football. It's awesome!! Go HAWKS! and BUCKEYES!!!
okay and HUSKERS!!!!
Our phone service comes from Magic Jack. It's on the internet and would work great except for our crappy phone (we need a new one still!). We have a tuner card in our computer that accepts HD signals. We also have bunny ears. We don't get a lot of channels but we get the ones we need. You got some pretty sweet deals.
We "bundle" everything with Qwest...but I am sure we are still paying too much. So much so I am embarrassed to post. =) But, I LOVE my DirecTV DVR. TIVO is a wonderful thing.
