I happened to watch the end of the Arkansas-Florida game yesterday. I was watching when Arkansas hit on a 70-yard TD pass that almost wasn't. Just as the WR crossed the line into the endzone, a Florida player knocked the ball loose. However, the Arkansas WR recovered the ball in the endzone for an obvious touchdown. The problem was that the CBS commentators were just about the dumbest people I've ever heard call a football game. Here's what they were saying (rough transcript provided by ... ahem ... Utefans.net):
Commentator 1: I don't think that's a touchdown; he fumbled before the endzone, it might be ruled down there.
Commentator 2: Is it considered an incomplete pass? he dropped before he got in the endzone. (Consider now that the dude caught the ball 30 yards before the endzone...)
Commentator 1: I'm pretty sure its a complete pass, he did run quite a ways after he caught the ball. Did he recover it in the endzone? (From watching it here at home, it was COMPLETELY obvious that the WR did, clearly a touchdown regardless if he fumbled it at the 1 yard line)
Commentator 1: (Continues with how he thinks it might be a dead ball at the 1.)
I couldn't believe the incompetence exhibited by these "professionals" who watch and call football games on a weekly basis. It was absolutely incredible. I was yelling at the TV I was so blown away by idiots.

I was furious at this game. There were at least two calls that went against Arkansas that were crap. Regardless of the poor calls (and incompetant commentators) Arkansas played fairly well. I just wish they would have won.
